Mar 13, 2003 · Postfix generally makes a note about all of rejections in the logfile, and, if smtpd_delay_reject is yes, will show the sender and recipient as well as the HELO string that provoked the rejection. These can be found by grep'ing the logfiles for the string Helo command rejected. An example log entry (wrapped for display) is:

Examples are the local_recipient_maps that determine what local recipients Postfix accepts in mail from the network, the mydestination parameter that specifies what domains Postfix delivers locally, or the mynetworks parameter that specifies the IP addresses of trusted clients or client networks. Technically, these are lists, not tables.
You can merge your restrictions into smtpd_recipient_restrictions, remove all duplicates (for example "permit_mynetworks") and postfix will still honor all restrictions. BTW: Simon, you have. smtpd_sender_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, hash:/etc/postfix/access,
I did the modification you suggested in che main.cf file: check_recipient_access = hash:/etc/postfix/access and edited the access file: [email protected] permit_mynetworks,reject but still I can send mails from the "diego" account. – ludiegu Jan 22 '14 at 14:03

This could lead to unexpected results. For example, a permissive spam blocking policy could unexpectedly result in a permissive mail relay policy. An example of this is documented under "Dangerous use of smtpd_recipient_restrictions". Most of the Postfix SMTP server access controls are targeted at stopping junk email. If Postfix is running on a system whose hostname is mail.example.com, messages from the user kdent have a From: address of [email protected] However, frequently users want their mail to be sent from the domain name without any extra host information ( [email protected] instead of [email protected] ). See full list on discourse.ubuntu.com "smtp_bind_address" is an optional numerical network address that the Postfix SMTP client should bind to when making an IPv4 connection. To be able to connect, smtp_bind_address needs to be defined as mentioned in the mynetworks section and the binding name should be the same as defined in sdd_transport_maps: This should have been set automatically, but it should be something like this: mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8 [::ffff:127.0.0.0]/104 [::1]/128. mydomain: if your mail server serves up mail to your entire domain, you will need to add another entry, something like mydomain = mydomain.com. Null Client: 192.168.0.5; Mail Relay Server: 192.168.0.25; The null client is where we will be working, we will install and configure Postfix on the null client to forward messages to the mail relay server. For example, to run up to 10 smtp client processes, 10 smtp server processes, and so on: /etc/postfix/main.cf: default_process_limit = 10 You need to execute "postfix reload" to make the change effective. The limits are enforced by the Postfix master(8) daemon which does not automatically read main.cf when it changes. For example, if the blacklist is rbl.example.org and your license key is cus1337 then you might use cus1337.rbl.example.org. Postfix may expose this when rejecting connections that match, so you need to create a texthash table to filter it.

mynetworks = all is almost certainly the problem, or at least one of them. mynetworks should only list subnets or IP addresses that belong to you. Postfix will assume that any host in mynetworks is a trusted user, and will allow any connection from one of those hosts to relay mail to the rest of the world. – Tim Pierce Nov 30 '13 at 6:24

A few points: smtpd_client_restrictions is the logical place to put restrictions based on IP address, DNS RBL or similar. It doesn't require knowledge of sender or recipient, but in practice Postfix doesn't REJECT until the sending server has sent both of these.

The following describes a postfix site installation, using MySQL as a backend and Dovecot as the MDA. You will want to get nearly everything else regarding your mail working first - MySQL, the tables, and any components you may be using (ClamAV, Spamassassin, OpenDKIM), etc.
